INTRODUCTION The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) is a hypothesized relationship between various indicators of environmental degradation and income per capita. In the early stages of eco-nomic growth degradation and pollution This paper examines the relationship between per capita income and a wide range of environmental indicators using cross-country panel sets. The manner in which this has been done overcomes several of the weaknesses asscociated with the estimation of environmental Kuznets curves (EKCs). outlined by Stern et al. (1996). Results suggest that meaningful EKCs exist only for local air pollutants whilst indicators with a more global, or indirect, impact either increase monotonically with income or This paper’s purpose is to evaluate the role of the economic structure of specific EU countries into testing the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis, in the form of the industrial sector’s value added.

Introduction The environmental Kuznets curve is a hypothesized relationship between various indicators of environmental degradation and income per capita. In the early stages of economic growth degradation and pollution increase, but beyond some I do so in the context of estimating a standard Environmental Kuznets Curve in which economic freedom can both reduce overall levels as well as shift the shape of the curve. The results suggest that economic freedom reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also shifts the top point of the Kuznets Curve to the left. The Phillips curve is an economic concept developed by A. W. Phillips stating that inflation and unemployment have a stable and inverse relationship. The theory claims that with economic growth comes inflation, which in turn should lead to more jobs and less unemployment.

Therefore, an economy should focus on economic growth in the short-term and any environmental effects … Kuznets Curve Susmita Dasgupta, Benoit Laplante, Hua Wang and David Wheeler T he environmental Kuznets curve posits an inverted-U relationship be-tween pollution and economic development. Kuznets’s name was appar-ently attached to the curve by Grossman and Krueger (1993), who noted Energy consumption and its efficiency are significant factors for economic growth and environmental stress. (1996). This study establishes the existence of a pattern of behavior, between economic growth and environmental degradation, consistent with the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis for 17 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries between 1990 and 2012. Based on this EKC pattern, it shows that energy regulation measures help reduce per capita greenhouse gas (GHG INTRODUCTIONThe environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis is that environmental damage first increases with income, then declines. This might be taken to suggest that economic growth is not a threat to global sustainability, and that there are no environmental limits to growth. Environmental Kuznets curve, data of 50 years, from 1961 to 2010, will be used in order to assess the relationship between economic growth and the environmental outcome, taking GDP per capita growth and carbon dioxide emissions growth as the prominent measurements.
